Vibram - Forever Stepping into the Future

The world of fashion and function are becoming more and more symbiotic. In fact, functionality is now fashion, and with genres such as gorpcore and utilitarian styles continuing to rise in trend within the fashion scene in the last few years it’s no wonder that one of the most functional brands to ever do it, Vibram, is cementing itself as a key component in this movement.

Named after its creator Vitale Bramani, Vibram is an Italian company that manufactures rubber outsoles for footwear. Their most notable invention came in 1937 with the release of the Carrarmato sole. This sole is dubbed 'the greatest sole in the world' for countless reasons. Having a rich history in mountaineering, Vibram’s creations are the epitome of quality and durability and all soles made are a love letter from Vitale who was an avid alpinist himself.

Now a household name amongst a multitude of different trends and tribes, but none more so than the walking, climbing, and exploring community, Vibram not only sits on the top of the mountain when it comes to the fusion of fashion and function but was the first to reach it too.

To put it simply, Vibram to shoes is what Gore-Tex is to outerwear. It is not only a seal of trust to the customers that they will be getting a high-quality product, but it has transcended this and is now a household name that seamlessly goes hand in hand with fashion. Brands such as Suicoke, ROA and Our Legacy have all utilised Vibram’s technology to further increase the power of their products. Few brands have managed to create such an impact as Vibram has within their industry, and they continue to do so in innovative ways.
